About

Free, honest calculators — with the formula shown and the data dated.

Reckix builds small, self-contained tools for the money, tax, business, insurance, home, and health questions people actually search for. This page explains who we are, the standard every tool has to meet, where our numbers come from, and how to tell us when one is wrong.

What Reckix is

Reckix is a growing network of free web calculators. There is no signup, no paywall, and no upsell. Each tool is a single page that runs entirely in your browser — the math happens on your device, so there is no server that ever receives what you type. When you copy a result link, your inputs are encoded into the URL itself; that link is the only place your scenario exists, and it's yours to keep or share.

We focus on the long-tail questions the big sites gloss over — "what does an LLC really cost in my state", "take-home pay for a 1099 contractor", "how lenders average self-employed income" — and try to answer each one with a working calculator and a plain-English explanation of the formula behind it.

The standard every tool meets

Before a calculator ships, it has to pass the same checklist. This is what keeps the network consistent and trustworthy rather than a pile of one-off widgets.

Self-containedOne HTML file, no external scripts or trackers. It works offline once the page has loaded.
Live & transparentResults recompute as you type, and a methodology section shows the exact formula used.
SavableEvery result round-trips through a shareable link, and every tool prints or saves to PDF.
Dated dataEmbedded figures (tax rates, fees, cost bands) carry a visible "as of 2026" note and cite a source.
Honest about limitsEstimates are labeled estimates; money, legal, and health tools carry the appropriate "not advice" disclaimer.
AccessibleLabeled inputs, keyboard support, reduced-motion respect, and readable contrast.

How we source and date our data

Where a tool relies on real-world figures, we pull them from primary or named sources, record the year, and re-check them when the source updates. We prefer official government data; where we use an industry study, we name it so you can weigh it yourself.

AreaWhat we usePrimary source
Federal income tax & FICA2026 brackets, standard deduction, Social Security wage base ($184,500), Medicare ratesIRS & SSA (public)
State income taxPer-state 2026 rates and brackets, individually re-verified against state agenciesState Departments of Revenue (public)
LLC formation & annual feesFiling fees, annual-report/franchise-tax, publication requirements by stateSecretary of State / state agencies (public)
Home renovation paybackDirectional national cost-vs-resale mediansNamed industry Cost-vs-Value study (see the tool)
Term-life premiumsBallpark monthly ranges by age/sex/term — shown as a band, never a quoteNamed industry price index (see the tool)
NutritionMifflin-St Jeor BMR equation and Atwater macro factorsPeer-reviewed formulas (public)

Directional figures are labeled as estimates on the tool that uses them, and we date them so you can tell when they were last checked. If a source we reproduce turns out to require a license we don't hold, we replace it with an independently derived figure.

Accuracy & corrections

We hand-check the worked example on every calculator against its stated formula before it ships, and we spot-check the numbers again whenever the underlying data changes for a new tax year. Still, no calculator is a substitute for professional advice on a real decision — and we get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it and note the change.

Privacy, in one paragraph

Because every tool runs client-side, nothing you enter is uploaded, stored, or sold — there is no backend to receive it. The site currently sets no advertising cookies. If we turn on advertising in the future, we'll do it through a certified consent banner and update our Privacy Policy before any ad ever loads. The full policy and our Terms of Use spell out the details.
